tried to mine for hands again against the predictable preflop raiser. Once i flop the 3 pair i have a hard time believing i anyone has a set since i have protection against all of them. and i have outs against any set except QQ. but i'm not sure what else the reraiser can have, es since he appeared solid. initial raiser is likely AA and will stay in so it makes no sense for me to call in hindsight. my 2 pair is very fragile even if ahead and there is too great a chance of something going wrong.

WCOOP Event #15 Pot Limit Omaha
Barring a big cash this will be the last WCOOP event I play in this year. I think PLO is a fun game and I can't wait to start this tourney
3:00 pm - Cards are in the air. 850+ players
3:30 pm - 1/2 hour in and I'm up to 3000 (form 2500). We've got a maniac at our table, raising pot preflop about 75% of the time. So far its working for him, he's up to 3500, but i don't think it can last. I've got position on him. Unfortunately I've got a good player to my left. Blinds are up!
3:36 - Out at the hand of the maniac. I took my shot with [Ks Kc Ad 7s], limping in and then reraising his raise that I knew was coming. He called for 555 with [3s Kh 9h 6h]. At this point I am a better than 2 to 1 favorite. Flop comes 4c Ah 3h and we get all out money in. At this point I am a a suprisingly heavy 3:2 dog. Blank on the turn makes me a 3:2 fav again but the river is a heart and I am out. Boo!

That's right. Inexplicably, smokeman raised me off my hand, after retardedly calling all the way down with a horrible draw, as if I wasn't calling if I had a better low than him. It cost him a little bit of money to raise me off my hand, he had the low already and would have taken half of tunny's bet. But there is absolutely no logic to it, no possible benefit that is not a fantasy.
I can't afford to be caught in the middle so I fold. His horrible play risked a huge amount (He could have been caught in the middle, he had no chance at scooping or bluffing tunny out) for no possible gain and only loss. But it cost me a large pot. Gaaaaaa!!!! Alright, we are starting up again, I'll update this soon. I think I'm off my tilt now.
5:40 pm - Up to 2643. I scooped a pot against an idiot (trying to bluff low with a weak high when I was on an obvious high hand) a split a pot for a slight profit against another idiot. More scoops for me please.
5:50 pm - 1799. 4th street and the river hate me. Oh 347th out of 453 remaining.
6:15 pm - 3rd break. 3459 chips, got lucky to get those to, finally a draw got there. 194/392.
6:44 pm - Back down to 2272. This game is crazy. I made the most money on my worst play. I lost the most with my best play.
6:56 pm - Busto! I play 3 big hands well but get beat on all 3. Last hand: I am shortstack QTQ, another shortstack xx3 raises, questionable playing xx7 reraises and i reraise to try to get the high and we cap it putting both shorties almost all-in. When we go all-in I see I am against 2366 and 7J72. I am happy briefly but when doofus hits a 7 for trips and I fail to hit a Q or 3 on the river to improve 2 pair I am gone.
I'll try live reporting for tomorrow's event too. The Blogger.com software is really f-ed up right now, hopefully they figure that shit out.

That's right. Inexplicably, smokeman raised me off my hand, after retardedly calling all the way down with a horrible draw, as if I wasn't calling if I had a better low than him. It cost him a little bit of money to raise me off my hand, he had the low already and would have taken half of tunny's bet. But there is absolutely no logic to it, no possible benefit that is not a fantasy.
I can't afford to be caught in the middle so I fold. His horrible play risked a huge amount (He could have been caught in the middle, he had no chance at scooping or bluffing tunny out) for no possible gain and only loss. But it cost me a large pot. Gaaaaaa!!!! Alright, we are starting up again, I'll update this soon. I think I'm off my tilt now.
5:40 pm - Up to 2643. I scooped a pot against an idiot (trying to bluff low with a weak high when I was on an obvious high hand) a split a pot for a slight profit against another idiot. More scoops for me please.
5:50 pm - 1799. 4th street and the river hate me. Oh 347th out of 453 remaining.
6:15 pm - 3rd break. 3459 chips, got lucky to get those to, finally a draw got there. 194/392.
6:44 pm - Back down to 2272. This game is crazy. I made the most money on my worst play. I lost the most with my best play.
6:56 pm - Busto! I play 3 big hands well but get beat on all 3. Last hand: I am shortstack QTQ, another shortstack xx3 raises, questionable playing xx7 reraises and i reraise to try to get the high and we cap it putting both shorties almost all-in. When we go all-in I see I am against 2366 and 7J72. I am happy briefly but when doofus hits a 7 for trips and I fail to hit a Q or 3 on the river to improve 2 pair I am gone.
I'll try live reporting for tomorrow's event too. The Blogger.com software is really f-ed up right now, hopefully they figure that shit out.
WCOOP Event #12 Pot Limit Omaha H/L & Event #13 6-handed Pot Limit Hold Em
I'm going to make these fast since I didn't make it past an hour and a half in either event.
I was looking forward to Omaha H/L especially given my relative advantage over the field in that one.
There were lots of bad players, but at my first table the player to my left was Barry Greenstein. I only played in 1 pot with him (he folded the turn) before I moved. I was sad to go despite having a pro to my left because many players at that table were bad. I got in a raising war with my Ad2d3J vs 246J on a 25J flop (with 2 diamonds). Somehow neither of us improved and we split the pot with Jacks and Dueces. That's the kind of play you see in this event. Awesome.
I again got all my chips in where I had beautiful draws only to split to a player with a much worse hand. Then comes the hand that crippled me. I limp UTG (not many large raises happening) with JT98 double suited. Not the best hand in the world but like 6 of us see a flop that comes 997 with 2 spades giving me trips + big straight draw + straight flush draw. I bet almost the pot and get 2 callers. Turn is the J giving me a boat. I pot it and get 1 caller putting us both almost all-in. River is a K and he puts what little he has left in, I call, and he shows K9xx and the rivered higher boat. Gaa! Winning that hand wouldn't have made me chipleader, but it would have put me up there. Instead I am crippled and go out soon after.
As for 6-handed PL Hold-em, I tried to move to a super-aggro strategy. Instead I kept running into big hands, and eventually paid them off. Blah, I was out of that one pretty quick. I don't even have any hands in mind but they all went like this: I raise with Ts 9s. Flop comes T high and I get check raised all-in. I fold. Eventually I check-raise someone all-in with mid-pair and a flush draw. They flop top set and it holds up. Aggro is fun cuz when you lose, it's fast.

WCOOP Event #11 Seven Card Stud
This event was sort of fun for a while until the miserable end. Stud is a game that requires a lot of attention to cards that have been shown on the board. Cards that don't even seem relevant at first later become important. Combine all the information available with some nifty math skills and an ability to read your opponents and you can become a decent stud player.
I played stud for almost 6 hours, was near the chipleaders with about 200 people left, only to bubble out 1 from the money in 89th place after an absolute freefall. Blech!

My raise here was designed to make pbdrunks pay for his obvious flush draw, I also had 3 of his hearts so that helped. Probably could have gotten an extra bet out of cochala on the river (which actually would have maybe saved my tournament life later) but I was afraid of draws i guess and didn't think i would get paid off by worse hands.

My raise here was designed to make pbdrunks pay for his obvious flush draw, I also had 3 of his hearts so that helped. Probably could have gotten an extra bet out of cochala on the river (which actually would have maybe saved my tournament life later) but I was afraid of draws i guess and didn't think i would get paid off by worse hands.

This guy won the PLO8 tourney yesterday. After this hand we are about 3 from the money and I have lost a ot of chips fast, I decide to take it easy until the money unless I get a really good situation. I get a good situation very soon.
The last hand didn't print out due to my error so here it is in regular format. This was a shitty way to bubble out. At the point the money goes in I know I am well ahead. It was around 65/35 but it wasn't meant to be. It would have given me some chips to work with.
